I have tried using numpy by entering an example found online and the plot appears but none of the three widgets work. They are button, slider and radio button. I desperately want to find a method to program a button that appears on the main form. Not a popup like a ui button that obscures what you can see.

I would send you the code but I do not know to add it to my reply. The problem is that all the three widgets are drawn but they do not perform. The sliders do not move and the radio buttons cannot be changed. On-change events are defined but I assume that they are not called. If I knew of another import that has buttons I could try that.

I think the problem is that numpy needs a mouse. I am using an iPad and only have a touch screen. The numpy documentation keeps referring to a mouse and I guess they programmed it with a computer in mind. I can buy a Bluetooth mouse for the iPad, but is it worth it just to get a working button.

None of the matplotlib interactivity will work, unless you program them. Matplotlibuses different "backends" to offer interactive plots, but the pythonista version uses the image only backend, since it doesn't have TKinter, or other native libraries.
I created a simple pythonista_backend to allow pan/zoom, it may also be possible to extend this to other types of interactions, if you want to tackle it...
