Hello,
I am currently using the hardware Apple keyboard on my iPad and the software extended keyboard (the one with the shortcuts for indentation and so on) is quite annoying.
Is there a way to disable or hide it?
Cheers!

I’ll extend this to add that on an 11” iPad Pro with the Smart Keyboard the extended virtual keyboard actually covers the console line and makes it unusable. The console/prompt section is visible in portrait orientation but sits directly underneath when in landscape.
On a 2018 12.9” iPad Pro the on-screen keyboard completely covers the console line prompt line. Slightly better with an external keyboard but still obscured.
Hi
I would agree on the new 11” iPad Pro with apple Smart Keyboard its unusable. Can this be fixed
Just bumping this thread as I’m experiencing the same issue on a 2018 11” iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard. When using the console, the extended virtual keyboard covers the input and renders it unusable.
Edit: The extended virtual keyboard can be hidden but reappears as soon as I start typing in the console. I’d like to completely disable the extended keyboard as the Smart Keyboards includes all the inputs I need.
Have you tried going to Settings > General > Keyboard on your iPad and turning shortcuts off?
I have the same problem and it is quite annoying. Nearly unusable.
It’s working for me. Still do not know the impacts for other applications
@chrka709 It seems to work in my case. Still do not know impacts on other applications.
@chrka709: thanks for the suggestion, which works for me as well. Obviously, a solution which doesn’t require changing system settings would be preferable, but this works.
Agreed, this makes it pretty difficult to use the console prompt. You can see a gif I made here
Turning it off system wide is not a good option as I would like this on other apps.
@skabber if the problem is
Fixed an issue with the extra key row hiding console input on 2018 iPad Pros.
Beta version should correct it
Yes, that fixes it. Thanks!
