I filled an issue about auto layout few days ago. Also did want to play with some proof of concept and here it is as gist.

Copy & paste & run it. Includes some demos. Feel free to use it for whatever you want. Didn't test everything, but should work (at least I hope). Some names can be misleading, but it's not an issue (still concept).
