Cannot get keyboard to display

RobertClay

I am new to Editorial, and still finding my way around. Impressed so far but keep running into a problem that likely has a very simple solution. If I dismiss the software keyboard using the bottom right key, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make the keyboard return when I want to carry out more editing. As I say, the solution must be extremely simple ... So your help would be appreciated.

Have you tried touching the text that you want to edit? Just tap near a letter, and the keyboard should reappear.

I believe that this is common for all iOS text editors.

I hope that helps.

Hi Jim, I'm not a novice to computing or iOS, so naturally I would expect the behaviour you describe, which as you say is common to all iOS text editors. But once I have dismissed the keyboard that's it ... Nothing I do gets the keyboard to return. I tried out an external Bluetooth keyboard the other day and it worked really well. It is behaving as if that keyboard was still attached, even though it is not. Any other ideas?

Just deleted Editorial and re-installed it and I'm getting exactly the same result. Really annoying as I can't get my head around it when it misbehaves in this way.

Hi Robert,
What if you turn off Bluetooth (I suspect that's how you connected the external keyboard) ?

Also, do you still see the bottom row with the Undo and Snippet buttons?

kind regards,

Hi Nikolaj, I just switched off Bluetooth and that resolved it. Turned it back on and it was still fine. Since this issue doesn't appear to affect other apps, I am guessing there is an easily fixed bug of sorts in Editorial. At least I now have a workaround! Thank you.

Cool Robert, it's my impression that many things will be fixed in the 1.1 release, which also supports iOS7.

If you haven't read Ole's post about it, you can find it here.

kind regards,
