I use a German keyboard with my iPad, but the interface is set to English.
The issue I have is that all English-language text entered in Editorial will be highlighted as spelled incorrectly. This is because I have to set the Keyboard language to German, which - apparently - automatically also sets the spell checker to German.

This is pretty annoying, as you can imagine. Is there a way around this? Is it an Apple issue or is it something that might be added as an option to Editorial?

The Auto-correction can be disabled in iOS if this is a solution that works for you.
Settings->General->Keyboard

The spell checking language depends on what language your keyboard is set to, so if you switch to the English keyboard, the spell checker also switches to English. (The spell checking underlines don't update immediately, you need to either move the cursor onto each word that is marked as incorrect, or restart Editorial.)

If you don't have an English keyboard set up yet, go to Settings > General > Keyboards > Keyboards (Einstellungen > Allgemein > Tastaturen > Tastaturen) and add it there. Once you've done that, you can also tap on the newly added keyboard and change the keyboard layout - for example you can set the English keyboard to QWERTZ, so you don't have to get used to the different keyboard layouts when switching between languages.

If you have a Bluetooth keyboard, there is also a separate Hardware Keyboard (Hardwaretastatur) section in the keyboard settings, where you can change what layout your Bluetooth keyboard should use for each language.

@dgelessus Super, thanks for that tidbit of information. I was not aware that you can set the keyboard layout for each language. Setting the layout to QWERTZ for English solved the problem. THANK YOU!

@dgelessus Unfortunately, I answered before really trying it... as it turns out, this doesn't work. I've set the English keyboard to qwertz layout in settings as indicated. It sounded too logical to be true: when I now switch to the English keyboard (there is a function key on my keyboard for this), I still get the US keyboard layout.
I'm going to try restarting my iPad next (though that shouldn't be necessary and probably won't change things).
Since the layout is also wrong in other apps as well as the browser (i.e. here), I'm going to assume this is an Apple issue.

Did you remember to also change the layout for the hardware keyboard? For me there are two separate sections in the keyboard options, one where you can add and remove keyboards and change their onscreen layout, and a second one to change each keyboard's hardware layout. (The second one only shows up if you have a hardware keyboard connected.)

@dgelessus Thank you again! Now I feel silly. I didn't have the hardware keyboard connected at the time, of course, so the selection didn't appear.
