Swift Playgrounds for iOS

disorientedp

Anyone else excited about Swift Playgrounds for iOS with iOS 10? It's another step towards being able to make iOS apps without a Mac. Since it's intended for learning, it's not a fully-featured Xcode for iPad, but hopefully it will make coding classes in schools more common.

I would be excited, but my iPad mini 1 won't get iOS 10 :( Recently got an iPhone SE, which will of course get the iOS 10 update, but I don't think Swift Playgrounds will be available for iPhone.

Also a ton of excitement about Swift on servers https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2016/415/ (only works in Safari).

@ccc Swift on zLinux (yay!) and xLinux. Available from (guess who?) :-) https://developer.ibm.com/dwblog/swift-server-goes-global/

Though it's intended for learning, Swift Playgrounds for iPad is full of advance features. In fact, you have access to all iOS' SDKs/APIs. I dare to say this would become an XCode for iPad, or XCode Mini, or whatever you want to call it. Take a look at this video to know that Swift Playgrounds' feature isn't a joke… https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2016/408/ 😊

@bee yep, it's going to be fun to play around with. I wonder if it will let you use multiple files in one playground.

What's funny is that in Fredrico Viticci from Macstories' podcast, Canvas, talked about how much he wanted Xcode for iPad just a week before WWDC.
