Pythonista 3 release discount bundle

scj643

I'm thinking once pythonista 3 launches their should be a bundle for pythonista 2 and 3 that shaves a couple dollars off the new app price,

I think @omz said he will do that (might be wrong though). In any case I would like to see that as well (obviously, because it's cheaper :P).

Although with Pythonista 3 now supporting both Python 2 and 3, keeping the bundle forever might not be a good idea, it might give the wrong impression that Pythonista 3 supports only Python 3 and that you'd need Pythonista 2 for Python 2 code. Once Pythonista 3 is out it might be a good idea to add a warning in Pythonista 2's description that if you do not own the app already, you really should buy Pythonista 3 instead because it's a straight upgrade. (Unless there is a legitimate reason why you would need Pythonista 2 in addition to Pythonista 3.)

Make pythonista 3 pythonista 4 just like how anaconda did it to avoid confusion with Python versions

Make pythonista 3 called 4 and avoid confusion (just like how anaconda is doing it)

Nah, in that case Pythonista 6 would be more appropriate. ;)

I think if we are not careful app prices as they stand today will be the death of apps. They are just getting to ridiculously cheap. Especially a app like Pythonista, it's not a app you just write, release and forget. It's a full time commitment. If we want that time of commitment we should pay for it.
Again, especially for Pythonista you can't just put it into any other class of app.
Even if it cost 5 to 10 times more than it does today, is still a bargain.
I know most feel the same here. I could see a student or education version, same app but cheaper. The honor system.

Please understand, I don't have a agenda other than seeing Pythonista being the best it can be and being funded enough to see its expansion.

I think @omz said he will do that (might be wrong though).

If I did say anything about bundle pricing in the past (I don't remember, but it's quite possible), it was under the assumption that Pythonista 3 would only support Python 3, and that Pythonista 2 would remain in the App Store for that reason. Now that P3 supports both versions, I don't really want to commit to that, but I haven't made a final decision yet.

Ok then how about a coding compotitoon when 3 releases and the top 5 get a free promo code

scj643

If we had something like slack bouncing ideas off each other would be easier :D

I agree with @Phuket2. I personally don't feel the need for bundles from the money saving point of view. I already feel guilty that I paid $10 bucks several years ago and @omz keeps giving me new features for free. ;-) It is tremendously useful to me and worth much more. I'd pay that monthly if I had to. I also don't understand the point if pythonista 3 will support python 2 as well. I need python 2 for a bunch of stuff but it looks like I am covered with pythonista 3. Support for both in the same app is ideal if unexpected. What benefit would pythonista 2 have if you have pythonista 3 installed? Am I missing something?
