My little app "rechtschreibung" has grown up a little bit. It has become "universal", which is to say that it works pretty well with my iPad and my iPhone using different screen layouts.
The Readme has been extended quite a bit as well.

As Nichtmuttersprachler who learned German in school way before the 1998 Rechtschreibereform, I was totally unaware of this German discussion. Do people actually propose writing "zwai"?
Nice to see a full and useful app with Pythonista! A few years ago I was set to learn 7 spoken languages but soon realized it would take much longer to see any profit on that course. That is how I got into computer programming. I figured they were languages too, and much easier to speak in.

@Olaf Well, the app is all about "What if?". You select your favorite rule set, take a look at the text and see if you like it.
Writing "ai" instead of "ei" is only consequential since "ei" is pronounced "ai". So why write "ei"? :-) But, of course, a lot of people would complain...
People would complain especially if non-Hochdeutsch-speaking people started writing in their regional dialects. The situation is bad enough already (recently had a fun discussion with relatives about what a "Pfannkuchen" is), and it would not help if Saxons, Bavarians and Swiss wrote like they spoke. Or if us Rheinländers wrote like we speak when it's Karneval.
(I still wonder how long it takes until we write "Füsik" instead of "Physik".)
