Using Stash wget I've downloaded several .gz files but if I try tar -xvf, I get "invalid header". Should this work? Is this a known bug?

Are they tar.gz, or just plain .gz?
If the files are gzipped, you need to specify the z option as well. The full command should look like tar -xzf things.tar.gz. (The v is optional and enables verbose output that prints the names of all extracted files in the process.)
Perfect. Thank you.
