It would be fantastic if it'd be possible to switch default unit for counting text lenght (in case of folding or general words count) from words to characters (with spaces!). I usually work with the former and calculating between these two measures is quite a trouble.
You can switch the total word count to characters by tapping on the label (top right). I know this isn't quite what you want because it doesn't get saved as a default, and it's not possible for the folding indicators, but it might still be useful, in case you weren't aware of it.
