Simple alarm device / home automation using a Raspberry Pi and Pythonista on the iPad

faust

Hi guys
just wanna share a little project I worked on the last weekend.
Its a simple GUI written with Pythonista to control a Raspberry Pi which detects whether someone opened the door or not. I can also switch a light on and off and order pictures or a short video from a webcam which is connected to the Raspberry.

Here is the video:

Ahh, I love it! Awesome work. How are you communicating between the pi & pythonista? Presumably there's some software running on the pi, what language is it in?

I too am curious. You have an amazing program and now I'm interested in using Pi for my experiments. Can you provide an example of how you interact with Raspberry Pi?

I've been looking Tito doing something exactly like this. This post is part of the reason I bought Pythonista. If you should share the code in Pythonista, on the Pi, and your hardware, that would be amazing. Thanks a lot!

Between my Raspberry Pi and my Mac, I have been using the Python library 'mosquitto' (http://mosquitto.org) to make MQ Telemetry Transport (MQTT http://mqtt.org) connections. Mosquitto works like a charm for messaging to/from the Raspberry Pi: simple, lightweight, guaranteed in-order delivery for sensors and other devices with low CPU/memory/bandwidth/battery that may have intermittent connectivity.

Would it be possible to get the mosquitto client working under Pythonista??
