Would it be possible to allow users to assign their own hot keys for external keyboards? If so, there could be so many possibilities. There could be a set of standard actions a user could pick from, but it would also be awesome to run a user made script with hot keys. You could use hot keys to instantly load a sidebar, sync with dropbox, indent, comment, or execute a line of code, switch between files, and a host of other things without having to have a super long action menu, or having to even have an extra tap to use those actions.
